It was indeed a privilege to visit Kuwait in April 1995, almost five years after the “1st Gulf War” in 1990/91. Looking at it now, it seems that this war was the beginning of an unstable Situation in the whole region.
In Kuwait most of the buildings were rebuilt and life was back to routine, at least on the outside. We got to know, that there were wounds, which could not be heald so fast. Almost symbolic the government left a ship, which was destroyed by missiles in the center of Kuwait City as a memorial.
We got to know many people, locals and expatriates. In the short time we were there, those new friends took us from the ship in the port of Shuwaikh to the citycenter. It was nice to walk on the new promenade and have a drink in the restaurant of the Kuwait Towers.
