The second weekend of our 2 weeks stay in Dar es Salaam was very special to me. Five of us left the ship for a few days on a so called “faith team”. Without any money we hitchhiked “into the wilds”.
In this way we could get to know the country and the people by depending on their kindness toward us. Of course, for them we were very exotic.
We walked from village to village, telling them about the ship, by wich we came to Tanzania. And telling them our honest desire to serve the nations by making friends, sharing our faith and connecting people.
One family I still have in very good memory. John, the farmer took us on his pickup truck and brought us home to his family, where we could have a nice meal, a nice talk and a place to stay overnight.
As I said, we did not bring money, but when we came back to the ship, we had our bags full with fruits and vegetables.
