Somehow it is so incredible, that out of a life of 50 years, 2 years are so remarkable. The places we visited are still outstanding in my memories. So is Singapore to me.
Singapore is one of the most busiest ports in the world. So every day we could see many ships come and go.
The Star Gemini we saw in Port Klang, now came to Singapore too.
The funicular, which was made by an Austrian company is leading to a quiet place for recreation, an island called Sentosa. Close to the harbour front was also the Sentosa Gateway, where we could walk easily to Sentosa Island. The Gateway itself was a meeting place for many, who enjoy a walk on the evening.
That time, the Merlion was still under construction, now visitors can go up to a viewing terrace. My fotos are hardly to compare to the fotos you find on Sentosa and Singapore in general today on the internet.
There is also a beautiful beach on Sentosa Island. Christof and I went there to swim. Only when you see the hundreds of ships at anker, your might think, that the sea is not so convenient to swim. But the water was clear and a the sandy beach tidy.
Lenny made a tour for Markus, Kah Foon, Yoke Yin and me. With his VW Käfer we got a first impression of Singapore with Raffles Hotel as the highlight. As a large group we went to visit the “Night Safari”. By myself i made an outing to the Jurong bird park. Also I went to visit the Jurong lake, Chinese and Japanese Gardens.
This “bridge of double beauty” is connecting the Chinese Garden and the Japanese Garden:
