October 8th 1996
When Doulos arrived in Hong Kong on September 26th, I was able to explore the MTR (metro) immediatly and found out about the ferries to Macau. A few days before I left the Ship, i got back my passport. So on October 8th, on my day off, I went by Ferry to another new country for me to visit. The ferry was fast and it took not much more then an hour for a distance of about 65km. I do remember the historical city with the famous ruins of the “St. Paul´s churchbuilding”, but also many signs to show the way to the gambling centers. With a days visit, Macau remains one of the shortest visited countries. But I was there in 1996, three years before three years before the Portuguese Colony came to an end.
